Luxury real estate prices increased massively in 2021

The prices for luxury real estate have increased massively again in 2021 from an already high level. Compared to the previous year, the market volume grew by 31.5 percent or 1 billion euros to 4.15 billion euros, according to RE/MAX experts.

Luxury flats cost at least 510,000 euros in 2020, but at least 562,500 euros in 2021. Prices rose from +2.0% (2020/2019) to +10.3% (2021/2020). Luxury top floor flats traded for at least 1.00 million euros in 2020, and at least 1.18 million euros in 2021 (+18% after +12.0% a year earlier).

“The luxury real estate market in Austria is structured differently from region to region and is definitely manageable. The top winter sports destinations, such as the areas around Kitzbühel, on the Arlberg and Salzburg Pongau, and the areas with picturesque lake backdrops – above all Lake Wörthersee, plus Lake Constance and some lakes in the Salzkammergut – continue to attract people with money and taste. They are looking for nature and natural beauty, but also an infrastructure in which it is possible to live particularly well with the appropriate amount of money. First-class gastronomy and health care as well as high-quality cultural and shopping facilities are at the top of the wish list. Therefore, even in the urban area, individual districts in and around Vienna and the cities of Innsbruck, Salzburg and Bregenz are highly sought-after and correspondingly expensive.”
